The Melengo Bridge or often called the butterfly bridge is a bridge located in Kampung Tengah, Mempura, Siak Regency, Riau. This bridge has been inaugurated by the Siak Regent named Datuk Pesisir Bridge which is planned for light loads and most only vehicles with a maximum capacity of 30 tons. The bridge is of the Arch Taper Box Steel Frame structure with a span length of 75m and span width of 8.5m.
Melengo river bridge is a bridge located in Mempura District, Siak Regency, Riau. Planned with the main objective to support the tourism area, the geographical position of this bridge is directly facing the Siak Palace and the Syahabuddin Siak Grand Mosque which is bordered by the Siak River. The concept of bridging that combines traditional and modern is the basis for the birth of creative ideas to build this bridge. Technically, this bridge is different from bridges in general, has steel curved like a butterfly, so that not a few people call it the butterfly bridge. This bridge has a main span of 75 m and a width of 8.5 m, placing the joints so this bridge should be categorized as a non-standard bridge.
Slightly mirrored in the bridge implementation process, technically the bridge uses all of the connections using bolts without bolts, so it is necessary to study the handling plan for the bridge maintenance, both routine and periodic. Changes in the design of the bridge’s curved frame, from the initial circle turned into a box, the use of a stifner to strengthen or when doing anti-rust coating does not change shape.
As a contractor in the field of civil engineering, it is natural to have a sense of challenge or worry about the stability of the bridge considering that since the bridge has been completed, the loading test has never been carried out. This worry must be answered by conducting scientific studies in this case carrying out a loading test.
Based on the background above, it is necessary to do a loading test on the bridge. To ensure the condition of the structural elements in accordance with the plan, testing is needed that aims to determine the bridge’s response to the load acting on the structure and determine the ability of the bridge to its service capacity. Tests carried out are special tests of static loads.
The purpose of this inspection is to determine the bridge’s reaction to the load according to plan. While the purpose of this activity is to get the results of the bridge response to the test load. The objectives of this activity are:
- Obtain information on the condition of structural elements from visual inspection.
- Knowing the behavior of bridges when loaded with static and dynamic loads in terms of deflection, strain and frequency values.
- Knowing and evaluating the results of bridge behavior on the results of structural analysis.
